What Is FORS?
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is an accreditation scheme that aims to improve fleet activity in London and throughout the UK and beyond. FORS is open to any company operating a fleet including vans, lorries, mini-buses and coaches.
Why Should I Join?
FORS can help you to stand out from the crowd and prove to current and prospective customers that you are an operator that works to standards above the legal minimum. Additionally, accreditation of the scheme gives you access to a range of exclusive benefits that offer real competitive advantage. FORS aims to recognise and reward excellence with three levels of accreditation:
Raise Your Standards
FORS provides you with the information and tools you need to follow best practice, rather than focusing purely on keeping within the law.
Give Yourself An Advantage
Regardless of whether your fleet is made up of vans, lorries, mini-buses, coaches, buses or a combination, as a FORS accredited company, you can take advantage of exclusive benefits that will help your business through improved competitive advantage. There is no doubt, that companies requiring service provision from the road transport industry prefer to deal with FORS accredited transport operators. It is also the case that many companies will only do business with FORS accredited operators.
Changes to FORS
Transport for London (TfL) has fully funded FORS for seven years and established the scheme as a benchmark standard for the industry. As part of the new arrangement, FORS will become a self-funding scheme. This will enable FORS to be available across the UK and ensure the continued development of the FORS benefits package.
As a result of these changes, from 17 February 2015 companies registering with FORS for the first time will be required to pay:
An annual subscription fee – based on total fleet size
An audit fee based on the number of operating centres to be accredite
For a scale of charges, please visit the following link to the FORS website – FORS – Scale of Fees
